My Weekend of June 5th And 6th was spent at the 2010 Maloof Money Cup skateboarding competition. The contest was held on the East coast for the first time in Queens New York’s Flushing Meadows Park. Pro skateboarders from around the globe came to try and win the top prize of $100.000, part of an overall $250.000 in prize money.
The competition drew a packed house of eager spectators willing to endure the burning Saturday sun. The new skate park was built by the Maloof Money Cup organization to be a permanent fixture in the park. With a tornado watch in effect threatening the finals, the pace of the competition picked up in an attempt to beat any bad weather. Fortunately the weather held up long enough for Chris Cole to win the top prize of $100.000.
